*US Election Special* with Niall Stanage - White House Columnist

Listen Later

In this special episode, recorded to recap the US Election and the victory called for President-Elect Joe Biden, we speak with Niall Stanage, a Belfast-born White House columnist living in Washington D.C. reporting for The Hill newspaper.

Niall has lived in the US since 2004, and covered Barack Obama's 8-year term at the White House - writing a book covering Obama's rise to Presidency, titled "Redemption Song: Barack Obama: From Hope to Reality". He has also extensively covered the last 4 years of the Trump administration alongside the most recent campaign trail for both candidates for President of the United States.

Niall gives us his unique and eloquent take on a number of topics;

  • Where does the US stand now post-election, with legal disputes delaying any concession from the current President?
  • What happens next, and what we can expect to see from President Joe Biden in his first year in office
  • Memories of his coverage of Barack Obama's election victory and subsequent Presidency, and anecdotes from his time covering the Trump administration
  • Charting his career path from school years in Belfast, studying at Oxford University and subsequent job roles in Belfast, Dublin, New York and now Washington D.C.
