US poised to sanction IDF unit for human rights violations

The US is set to impose sanctions on an Israeli military unit accused of human rights violations against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank - a step the State Department has never taken before.

It would band the transfer of US military weaponry or any other assistance to an all-male IDF infantry unit - made up of ultra Orthodox recruits.  Israeli leaders across the political spectrum have condemned Washington's plan, promising to take action to prevent it.
