In this episode, I look at not so well-known case of United States v. Shipp (1909). This is the extraordinary case where the United States Supreme Court held a criminal trial to prosecute a white sheriff for the lynching of a black man. This is the only time in the court's entire history it held a criminal trial. Take a listen to hear the incredible story.
