As a used car dealer in 2019 and going into 2020, there is a growing problem in the industry. It's creeping in slowly and daily to dismantle great car dealerships systematically.
The problem is a lack of focus on what got you to the dance. Most used car dealers have a particular expertise, are really good in a certain area. What is that for you? Where are you the best in class (or as close to it as possible)?
Instead of continuing to get better at what that expertise is, we sometimes get off going into areas that we want to dabble in because we get bored. Shiny object syndrome is real and a daily fight to beat.
