  • 19. Punctuation: The Period

    Episode 19. Punctuation: The Period

What is a period and what does it do? Let's take a look at it today.

One of my students is currently reading the story "The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett and so makes a great example for the episode.

Here are the selections I use in the episode.

Chapter 1, page 1 "“Nobody seemed to care about Mary. She was born in India, where her father was a British official.”

Page 2 “ What are you doing here? she asked crossly. “Go away! And send Kamala to me at once!”

Now it is your turn when you are reading. Pay attention to the periods in the writing.

Sometimes it is useful to learn a list of words that are random. That means, they are not connected or part of any category. Visit the blog to see the words and compare your own list.
