Lifted to Hope

Using Anger as Self-Protection

Listen Later

Anger is a complex and confusing emotion, regardless of which side of it you find yourself on. It often emerges from a deep sense of powerlessness, tempting us to believe that reasserting control through displays of anger will bring us justification and a sense of security. However, when we neglect to address the pain within our own hearts, we inadvertently wound others. The allure of a power trip is always a temporary escape.

I invite you to join me on a personal exploration as I share the process of delving into the roots of my emotional wounds, stemming from the trauma of sexual abuse. Discover how you can learn to discern who to trust as you pursue the chance to share honestly and vulnerably. There is so much freedom in experiencing that you can get your needs met without demands or manipulation.

In this episode you'll learn:

  • The many expressions of anger
  • Examples of when Jesus expressed anger in his relationships
  • Why anger really is a huge cry for help
  • That you don't have to be in control to be safe and respected
  • Why journaling is such a powerful tool for working through our anger
