Something interesting Carly and Kelly read recently suggests most productivity challenges come down to an issue in one of three areas:

Time, Energy, Attention.

Automation is a tool you can use to do repeatable task automatically (i.e. with no input from you). It helps a little bit with Energy and Attention (by not needing to focus on some things, you can have increased focus and energy for others), but it can really help with Time.

Interestingly, this is something Kelly and Carly differ on. Carly automates anything she can. Kelly hates automating anything even though it can save her time.
