Using Tarot and Astrology as Creative Inspiration, Expressing Yourself Through Writing and Moon Manifesting with Poet Stephanie Valente
“We’re all storytellers, whether you’re a musician or an artist or a gardener– flowers have stories and meaning and symbolism.” Fiction writer and poet Stephanie Valente joins the show to discuss how tarot and astrology can inspire your creative expression.
Stephanie, who identifies as a witch, started writing poetry and fiction in college. Stephanie says she was always intrigued by the “mystery and fantastical existence” of the occult and the stars, which is why they hold a presence in her work. In college, she penned a thesis on surrealist art and writing that included astrological and tarot imagery. By her late 20s, Stephanie began teaching herself tarot and studying astrology, which led to her writing horoscopes for a wedding magazine. Since then, she’s written many published works, including “Internet Girlfriend,” which explores the intersection of the internet, the occult and sexuality.
In this episode, Stephanie shares how she discovered tarot and astrology, why she incorporates both of these tools into her spiritual and creative practices and how writing can be used as a means of self-expression and self-empowerment. She talks about tarot decks, the cards’ imagery and symbolism and simple tarot card spreads for beginners. She also tells us how to align with the moon for manifesting– and letting go– with writing prompts.
