The U.S. women’s national team will not win a gold medal at the Olympics, which was confirmed after Monday’s 1-0 defeat to Canada in the semi-final.

Jesse Fleming scored a penalty kick for Canada in the second half, and the U.S. was unable to find a response as they crashed out of gold medal contention. For Canada, it was their first win over the U.S. in 20 years.

It has been a disappointing tournament for the U.S., who entered as the favorites for gold but have won just one of their five games in regulation so far, while being shut out three times after entering the tournament without being shut out in four years.

Canada, meanwhile, will face Sweden for the gold medal, as both sides aim to win gold for the first time in their history.
