Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Utah Weather Podcast — it's Sunday, February 22nd.
Utah is playing favorites today. Southern Utah wakes up to sunshine and 60 degrees. The mountains? A bone-chilling 18, feeling like 17 degrees with the wind. The Wasatch Front gets the Goldilocks treatment — not too hot, not too cold.
Salt Lake City starts at 28 degrees at 5 A.M., then climbs to 51 by 2 P.M. Mostly sunny skies make it a perfect day to shake off the winter cobwebs. Tonight, partly cloudy with lows around 32.
Down south, St. George hits 60 today under clear skies. Tonight drops to 36, then Monday soars to 67. The sunshine train keeps rolling all week, topping out at 77 by Friday.
Up in the mountains, you're looking at 44 degrees today under mostly sunny skies. Lows tonight near 25. Tuesday brings a slight chance of snow as a storm system pushes in.
Tuesday, that storm arrives with valley rain and mountain snow, especially north. Wednesday stays wet, with snow levels bouncing around. Thursday, sunshine breaks through. And we're back in the 50s and 60s.
Quick safety note — an avalanche advisory stays active through Monday for all Utah mountains. If you're heading into the backcountry, check utahavalanchecenter.org first. That's not the kind of surprise you want.
Air quality is moderate today. And we're gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight. Spring is inching closer, folks.
Alright. If this forecast helped you plan your day, share it with someone who needs a weather heads-up.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
