The Utah State Board of Education just dropped its 2022 “report card” on Utah students’ test scores, growth, and postsecondary readiness. It’s not all pretty–about a third of Utahn students are grade-level proficient in math, English, and science. Race and income play a major role in determining the effect of the pandemic on kids’ reading levels, and last year’s kindergarten attendance drop is seeming to have an effect on elementary school reading levels.
