Vanita’s Story: Between Cultures and Continents

Listen Later

Born into an Indian family with roots in Vietnam, Vanita Prisha Daryanani grew up in Taiwan—learning Mandarin, celebrating Chinese New Year, and navigating what it meant to look different from everyone around her. Belonging was never simple, but those early years quietly built the adaptability that would shape the rest of her life.

At 18, she left for Australia to study physiotherapy, following a path influenced as much by family expectations as by her own ambitions. The move brought independence, questions about identity, and a growing awareness that the choices we make are often a mix of our own dreams and the hopes others have for us.

Then, at 22, another leap: marriage and a move to Ghana. A new continent, a new culture, and the beginning of a life she never expected to build so far from where she started.

This is a story about identity, expectations, and what it means to find your place in the world.
