Varsha Mathur struggled in an unhappy marriage for many years until in 2012 she separated from her husband and began divorce proceedings.

Varsha comes from a South Asian, Indian family and found it extremely difficult to talk to them about not only her marital problems but the fact that she wanted to leave her husband fearing rejection by her family and community.

Finally the stress of being in a bad relationship at home, trying to seem happy and function well in her corporate career and putting on a facade that everything was good became too much and she gained the courage to confide in her family and then take the steps to leave.  She says it was probably one of the scariest things she had ever done in her life.
