The רבי explains the fundamental war between the Greeks and the Jews in the חנוכה story:
While the Greeks appreciated rational religion, and even a rational commitment to the superrational, the Jews fought for their staunch commitment to Hashem's תורה and מצות stemming from a place of His רצון. While we indeed fulfill מצות with געשמאק (like משפטים), it comes from a place of irrational commitment (like חוקים).
This is connected to the "horn" that the Greeks wanted to turn the Jews into, but specifically with the power of the "horn" (עצם) did the Jews stubbornly fight back.
