"They're the two things that a Black person would be advocating for if they were there, but they're not hard things," Sykes said.
"They're things that change the DNA, they're things that change the way you think about diversity, but they're not heavy lifts."
"That makes a firm pay attention to the lack of diversity," Sykes said.
Such steps won't fix the systemic racism in the venture industry, Sykes said.
