Verbose Mode TV - 2x05 - Internet Radio Alternatives

Listen Later

Welcome to Verbose Mode TV, the show dedicated to learning to learn and the freedom to fail.

In today's episode I'll show a number of things I've found over the many, many months of the Internet Radio Project that could do the same thing easier and with less hassle.

The point of the Internet Radio Project, however, is not just about having a working internet radio but about the learning process of taking on such a project and using the vintage radio as the shell and interface model.

AdaBox 004 - https://learn.adafruit.com/adabox004?view=all

One of the projects for this AdaBox is their Streaming Internet Radio which uses SomaFM which is exactly what I sought to do with mine when I began.

If you like the AdaBox system, consider subscribing as it is cheaper than buying individual boxes.

HackerBoxes #0028 - https://hackerboxes.com/collections/frontpage/products/hackerbox-0028-jambox

Once again, if you like it consider subscribing as it is cheaper than buying each box separately.

All their build guides have their own page on Instructables, including this one.

Pimoroni Internet Radio - https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/pirate-radio-pi-zero-w-project-kit

Their kit uses a Raspberry Pi like mine, but they use a Pi Zero W and their own digital-analog converter (DAC) hat which gives it better sound and prevents the warble I get using audio and neopixels at the same time.
