Ross Austen was a former corporal from the 24 Commando Engineer Regiment. He was serving with the Royal Engineers on tour of Afghanistan in 2008, Ross was out on a foot patrol when he came under attack.
During Ross's second tour of Afghanistan, as a Section Commander in the Royal Engineers, he stepped on an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) which resulted in him losing his left leg.
This did not hold Ross back from achieving his goals of becoming a GB Para Power lifter. And now with his sights set on the Crossfit games, there is no holding Ross back.
Ross's inspirational story shows with determination anything can be achieved and this is the message that Ross is now trying to share with other individuals looking to become the next generation of adaptive athletes.
