Veteran Talk- Scott Lara Joins us

Listen Later

[INTRO MUSIC]

HOST: Welcome to Veterans Talk with Magic Mike, where what's important to you is important to us. Let's talk. I'm your host, Magic Mike, and today we’re diving deep into something close to my heart: how sharing your story and getting behind the mic can be a powerful form of rehabilitation.

[SEGMENT 1: Military Unity & Strength]

HOST: This entire military is one cohesive, dedicated force. And the threats to our nation, they don't sleep. They’re watching our every move. Iran, Russia, China, North Korea, ISIS, Al-Qaeda—they may be watching this right now. Our military should not be mistaken for a cable news gab fest show. We don’t care what you look like, who you voted for, who you worship, or who you love. It doesn’t matter if your dad left you millions or if you never knew your father. We have been honed into a machine of lethal moving parts that you would be wise to avoid if you know what’s good for you. We will not be intimidated. We will not back down. We've seen war. We don’t want war. But if you want war with the United States of America, there's one thing I can promise you—so help me God. Someone else will raise your sons and daughters.

[STATION IDENTIFICATION]

HOST: Opinions expressed in this program are those of the speakers and do not necessarily reflect the views or positions of any entities they represent. Find us on the web at mbradio.us.

[SEGMENT 2: The Power of Storytelling]

HOST: Broadcasting gives us a way to say, “Hey, this is who I am, and this is what I’ve been through.” It bridges gaps, builds community, and creates new purpose. Whether you were on the front lines or behind a desk, your experience is worth sharing, and trust me, somebody out there needs to hear it.

[CASUAL CONVERSATION]

HOST: It’s a beautiful day outside. How’s the weather over where you’re at? You know, for me, it’s definitely motorcycle weather. My wife would disagree—she thinks it has to be at least seventy-five degrees. I can’t stand the heat, though. The engine, the red lights—it drives me crazy. What about you?

[UPCOMING SHOW DETAILS]

HOST: We have a great show today. At four o’clock, we have a top-grade interview. We’ve got a lot going on. Did you see the new intro? I added some pictures and stuff. Also, big shout-out to our viewers on TikTok, Roku TV, Instagram, iHeartRadio—we’re on everything, man.

[NEWS DISCUSSION]

HOST: I was reading about Austin Lloyd, former Secretary of Defense, and how he hid his prostate cancer. There’s a fine line between privacy and transparency, especially in positions like that. Also, did you guys know the Navy fired over two hundred missiles in the Iranian Sea? It barely made the news! This kind of stuff needs more coverage. Also, did you hear about the army doctor convicted of abusing forty-one patients? He pleaded guilty and took a thirteen-year deal instead of facing two hundred and fifty years. Now, those victims are suing the government. Did you know you can now sue the U.S. government for medical malpractice at the VA?

[POSITIVE NEWS]

HOST: Let’s talk about something positive. The Super Bowl is this Sunday! Also, Trump signed an executive order to end daylight savings time. Did you see that? Also, there’s a major investigation into NFL corruption. Seven referees from the Chiefs vs. Bills game have been suspended. Crazy stuff.

[SEGMENT 3: Advocacy & Policy]

HOST: We need to stand together to protect our benefits. The VA has its flaws, but it’s up to us to demand change. The Major Richard Starr Act would end the offset preventing combat-injured vets from receiving both their retirement and disability benefits. We need to push Congress on this.

[INTERVIEW SEGMENT: SCOTT LARA, NONCOMMISSIONED OFFICERS ASSOCIATION]

HOST: Joining us now is Scott Lara from the Noncommissioned Officers Association. Scott, welcome to the show.
GUEST: Thanks for having me, Mike. It’s great to be here.
[DISCUSSION]
HOST: The NCOA has been fighting for veterans since 1960. What are the biggest challenges we face today?
GUEST: One of the biggest issues is protecting our benefits. If we don’t fight for them, they’ll be gone. We also work on legislative advocacy, sponsorships, and membership growth.
HOST: And you’ve got a conference coming up?
GUEST: Yes, in Norfolk this July. We’re bringing in hundreds of veterans and experts to discuss issues that matter.
HOST: That sounds great! How can people join?
GUEST: Just visit ncoausa.org. Membership is just thirty dollars a year.

[CALL-IN SEGMENT]

HOST: We’ve got a caller on the line. Red, welcome to the show.
CALLER: Hey, Mike. Just wanted to say the VA has to do better. My father called the crisis line, and they put him off until it was too late.
HOST: That’s heartbreaking, man. The VA needs to listen to us and provide real support.

[FINAL THOUGHTS]

HOST: Thank you to Scott Lara for joining us today. And a big thanks to all of you listening. We’ll be live at the NCOA Conference in July—stay tuned for details. Remember, we’re here for you. Giving veterans a voice. See you next week.
