Smokey Generation award winner, Blake Toth, stops by the studio to talk about connecting veterans to wildland firefighting careers and the back story of starting his organization, "Veterans In Fire"...

Blake is a former Marine door gunner who grew up in Maine. After his time in the Marines, he traveled around the country in his Ford Focus, where he discovered that he wanted to continue his passion for serving others...

Veterans In Fire provides individualized mentoring, training, and professional guidance into the Fire Industry. We place Veterans back in fight, on the best fire crews in the country to ensure they continue to have the opportunity to succeed, and continue to serve others...

Blake says, "I passionately believe there is no greater service than service to others. The vision is to highlight Veterans on the fire line and share their stories. For me, fire saved my life and I know I’m not alone. This project will explore the story behind the Veteran, what got them into fire, how it has helped them mentally, and why is it they continue to serve".

Veterans In Fire is a valuable resource to get your foot in the door of wildland fire.  If you have a DD214 and a resume, you have a pipeline to getting hired - And Blake is here to help!
