Dr. Charlette Cain is a board-certified laboratory animal veterinarian with over 16 years of
experience in the field. She received her veterinary degree from Tuskegee University, College of
Veterinary Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health. After a
brief stint in private practice, she was accepted into the Comparative Medicine Program at the
University of Missouri, Columbia where she completed a laboratory animal medicine residency
and earned a master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences. After her residency, Charlette joined the
Center for Comparative Medicine at Northwestern University, (in her hometown of Chicago, IL)
where she worked as a lab animal vet for 12 years. In February 2020, she accepted a position as
Associate Director of Veterinary Clinical Care and Training for the Department of Veterinary
Resources at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute.
