A Victorian government bill to ban “conversion therapy” could see parents be fined up to $99,000, or face five years jail (Section 10), for encouraging their young daughter to be comfortable with her female sex as she enters puberty, in cases where peers and social media influence her to take hormonal puberty blockers to change her sex.
Parents could be fined up to $40,000, or face two years in prison, for taking their daughter interstate for counselling (Section 12), and counsellors could be fined for encouraging a young girl to wait until she is older before changing her sex.
