Most of the Epistle of 1 Peter addresses the unjust suffering of believers. Peter understood firsthand abuse at the hands of unjust government and religious leaders. At the end of chapter 3, he again lifts up Jesus as our example to follow in suffering, highlighting not only what He went through on our behalf, but the victory he claimed, even in death. We, too, can claim victory in suffering if we maintain the same mindset as Christ, and remember that Jesus was really the only one who suffered undeservedly.
