We are still in the middle of the fall release season, with big games coming out every week or even multiple big games in the same week. Well, this is one of those with Control: Resonant last week and Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve out now for anyone who pre-ordered, and there's more to come after that as well. Sean's been playing Control: Resonant and Adventures of Elliott, while Marc has been playing Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve and more Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

There's more fallout from the XBOX reset last week could we say that XBOX has no clear vision? And WARDOGS CEO says that the problem with game development is that it costs so much to develop games that they should be more expensive. Are games too cheap? Or is it more about not overdoing it in how much it costs to make the game.

Plus, the Mythic Achievement is real, there's a $400 Grand Theft Auto VI collection, there are two Last of Us projects in development, Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in development, we won't be getting any news on Intergalactic this year, and more on this edition of Video Games 2 the MAX.

After rumors swirled over the weekend, it did in fact happen on Tuesday, a second round of XBOX "reset" layoffs occurred with HALO Studios being hard hit with 268 employees in all, with most coming from this studio, losing their jobs. HALO Studios itself takes a small team over to Activision where the next HALO game will now be made. Can the developers of Call of Duty turn HALO back into a winner yet again? Also, several other studio changes have happened and unfortunately, Ninja Theory is closing down. Sean and Marc give their thoughts on what happened and if any of this could reset in positivity for XBOX moving forward.

Also, loud rumors caused XBOX to have to answer questions about whether Day One games would be ending after the end of this year. XBOX itself didn't close the door on this happening. So does this mean we can expect that the biggest draw of Game Pass is ending soon?

Plus, Marc's been playing Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Sean saw the Zach Cregger Resident Evil movie, and has been playing The Blood of Dawnwalker, Sony has a patent that would let remote A.I. repair software issues, Microsoft has a patent that could put ads in during gameplay, Bungie isn't done with Destiny just yet, Final Fantasy VII Revelation will have an auto level-up system, GTA VI is getting a music album, and more!

Blizzard had some major announcements at Blizzcon 2026 including Diablo V coming in 2029, a new Starcraft game coming in 2030, Diablo getting an animated show with Netflix, Diablo coming to Diablo IV, and the announcement World of Warcraft Forever too. Are Sean and Marc excited about for anything announced? Is Marc going to hop into the new/old WOW?

XBOX also made news this week by literally saving Hideo Kojima's upcoming PHYSINT which is believed to be his original take on the action espionage genre since he last worked on a Metal Gear game. Sony made a statement about why they canceled the game too. What does this say about where Sony's at? And should there be faith in XBOX at all with this? Considering we haven't seen much from OD which is Kojima's horror game that also is being funded by Microsoft.

Plus, Grand Theft Auto VI increases Netflix signups, some game delays, SEGA doing more Netflix adaptations, Moss developer Polyarc closes down, the big IGN layoffs, and more!

The latter half of the gaming year begins in earnest with Tokyo Game Show on the horizon. We’ve already been treated to showcases from two of the big three console makers, as both Sony and Nintendo have broadcast a State of Play and two Directs, one in celebration of the Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary and a regular Nintendo Direct. Sean and Marc discuss the major highlights from each, what they are most looking forward to, and whether Nintendo is losing anything by releasing the Ocarina of Time Remake in November.

Sean’s also played the entire Final Fantasy Resonance Chapter 1 Demo that released on September 3, and he has thoughts on how it delivers on everything we’ve been missing from turn-based FF’s and sets up an intriguing tale as well.

Plus, more details on Grand Theft Auto VI, Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Blood of the Dawnwalker sell well, XBOX put a pin in Cloud Gaming by introducing time limits, a HUGE Steam Achievements leak puts out spoilers for a large swath of unreleased games, Forza Horizon 6 may not release in 2026 on PS5, Capcom will be doing more with old IP, Shawn Layden believes Sony could offload the disc producing process to third parties, could we be getting a Killzone 1 remake, and more on this edition of Video Games 2 the MAX.

We go from one major gaming event to the next one as Tokyo Game Show 2026 is on the horizon, and we already have some showcase announcements to discuss for that, but first, we need to look back at some things around Gamescom 2026, including Rockstar finally showing off more of Grand Theft Auto VI to the world during the Netflix extended look. What do Sean and Marc think about what was shown and the news that has come out in previews since? 80 hours to complete, a huge map, relationship and body development mechanics, smarter police A.I. so much side stuff to do, and that's just touching the surface.

XBOX has also finally unveiled the Disc to Digital feature and how it will work. It's actually already available for insiders now and soon to the entire gaming public. Does Marc think this is a good solution to at least keep the license? And does this mean for sure Project Helix will not include a disc drive?

Plus, Marc's been playing Star Wars Zero Company and he has impressions, Project Helix could be a family of devices according to CEO Asha Sharma, Sony introduces PlayStation Live TV, we get info on Fable's length, could Double Fine actually make Brutal Legend 2? Delays, announcements, and more!

We've hit another high point in the gaming year with the industry centered in Cologne, Germany for Gamescom 2026, and the kickoff to that each year is Opening Night Live hosted by Geoff Keighley with games both big and small appearing on the almost three-hour showcase. What did Sean and Marc think of what was shown? Any favorite games or surprises?

Also, Rockstar is once again in the news, not for their upcoming Netflix showcase of Grand Theft Auto VI but because of a leaker that has leaked quite a bit of the game out to the public and although Take Two Interactive has done takedowns and even subpoenaed both Microsoft and Discord to try to find the culprit, so far he remains at large. Does this hurt the game?

Plus, Sean has been playing Mexican Ninja and DuskFade while Marc has been playing Mortal Shell 2 and Beast of Reincarnation. Dave Bautista has officially been named Kratos; Horizon: Hunters Gathering is getting rebooted, Konami has a new Castlevania in development, and more!

D23 proved to be more than just a place to announce the next slate of Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney things, it also was a coming out party for Kingdom Hearts IV and this has Sean super excited of course. Especially with what was shown in the extended trailer. Will Marc care about any of it at all? The guys also discuss some of the major announcements from D23 as well.

There's also some other news such as more confirmation that the $100 special edition of Grand Theft Auto VI is the one being purchased the most on both consoles. Shuhei Yoshida has his thoughts on PlayStation ending discs, Asha Sharma has apparently played a demo of Elder Scrolls VI, Marc has been playing Beast of Reincarnation and more ReStory, there's some more info out on Marvel's Wolverine, and more!

As gaming gears up for another showcase season towards the end of August, Netflix has opened up the bag to get an extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI on August 27, and with it hitting YouTube some hours later, along with social media and all the sites. Final Fantasy VII Revelation will also get its time on the Geoff Keighley Gamescom Opening Night Live, there are reports that Kingdom Hearts IV also will get some time to shine at some point too.

Although it is a bit delayed, we are also doing as a main topic the Best Games of 2026 So Far the Summer check-in. What are some of the highlights for Sean and Marc so far in this year and what games are they most looking forward to playing in what's left of the year or that they haven't been able to play quite yet.

Plus, Square-Enix is doing well, so is Take-Two, and that's even without GTA VI hitting yet; Nintendo and Blizzard also appear in the episode. Marc has been playing ReStory, will we get Persona 1 & 2 remakes, and more!

Another week in video games, and it feels like more of the same with XBOX introducing more backwards compatibility, this time with XBOX 360 being next in line. Along with the possibility of their own version of the platinum trophy after so many years of requests. Asha Sharma also sets out a plan of how XBOX will get back to where it needs to be by 2027 to 2028, but perhaps the most frightening thing is that hot off the heels of the release of HALO: Campaign Evolved's release, there are already layoffs at HALO Studios as the game is doing "fine" but not what you'd expect a major first-party to do for XBOX.

Finally, someone from Sony responds to the controversy of deciding to end disc production in 2028 and the physical media enjoyers won't be happy with the Sony CFO's statement essentially stating that they have no other choice and they now have to figure out how to give their best with digital media as the focus. Does Marc still believe Sony will change course?

Plus, Sean's been playing Beasts of Reincarnation; Dave Batista may be Kratos in the God of War TV Series, EA completes its 55 Billion sale to the Saudi PIF, Capcom reports 93% of its sales are digital. PC Motherboards and NVIDIA GPU's are going up again soon too.

The second of the major releases is out now everywhere on PC, XBOX, and yes, even PlayStation 5, as HALO Campaign Evolved has come out of its early access period, and both Sean and Marc have played it, so they have thoughts on whether it delivers and if this really is the definitive way to play the first HALO game.

Also, XBOX has begun its backwards compatibility program to PC beginning with four original XBOX games, with promises of more to come, and it may even possibly extend to third-party games as well. There's even the promise of achievements being added to the games as well. Could we see PlayStation doing anything similar to this at all? And will this eventually extend to a large portion of the library?

Plus, a blackout is being organized to continue the rebellion against PlayStation for stopping the production of physical discs in 2028. Could this be the thing that gets their attention? Alanah Pearce also has evidence that Sony knows full well there would be backlash against them and gave very strict social media guidelines to follow as well. God of War: Laufey has a release date, and more!!!
