Villisca is between two tributaries of the Nodaway River, the West and Middle Nodaway Rivers, known as the forks. Probably why it was an attractive place for a town to support local farmers. This town is infamous for the Villisca Axe Murder, a tragedy where 8 people were murdered and no one was ever brought to justice for it. 

 

As with all social history episodes we're going to meet the people because it's the regular people who make the town. So we will meet some farmers, blacksmiths, travellers, and teachers and accountants.
