Before the train scene, Luther tries to convince Ethan to kill Gabriel with some rambling, convoluted pseudo-logic puzzle that leads Ethan to only one conclusion; kill Gabriel— the only person close enough to the AI to get in Luther’s way. How convenient. (the cops prevent Ethan from killing Gabriel)Luther never shows up for the rest of the movie. Not even at the very end when the rest of the team reunite.Luther, aka "Phineas Phreak" is the primary nemesis in the Mission Impossible movies.
