Welcome back, family. Welcome, ancestors. Welcome to the official platform of the artist—this is the Black Pearl Podcast, broadcasting to you through the spectrum waves of music and entertainment, a production of Spectrum Wave Media.
Today, we are not just hosting a show; we are holding a space. A sacred space for memory, for truth, and for honor.
It is with a heart full of respect and a spirit weighed by history that we must begin by acknowledging the passing of a titan, a living monument to resilience, Mrs. Viola Ford Fletcher—better known to the world as Mama Fletcher.
On behalf of Black Pearl and our entire Spectrum Wave community, we extend our deepest, most heartfelt apologies and condolences to her family, her community, and to all who were touched by her unwavering light. We can only imagine the depth of your loss. We hope that in our small way, we can help carry her story forward. We sincerely pray that she is now resting in perfect and eternal peace.
As one of the last surviving witnesses of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, she carried the weight of a story that the world tried to bury. But she refused to be silenced. She stood before Congress and declared, “Do not bury my story.” Her life was a testament to strength, a living demand for justice, and a bridge from a painful past to a future she fought to see.
It is in her spirit that we continue our own work. Our 2023 album, “Reparations,” was created as a sonic testament to her struggle and the ongoing fight for healing. And today, we want to offer something more personal.
What you are about to hear is a full, shadowed narrative—a monologue eulogy, crafted from the heart, dedicated to Mama Fletcher, to the lost souls of Black Wall Street, and to the enduring spirit of Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is our spoken word offering.
