The four people arrested for public violence in Parys in the Free State will appear in court soon. They were arrested after protesting residents allegedly set alight the house belonging to the family of the Ngwathe Municipality mayor Victoria de Beer. Angry residents barricaded roads with burning tyres and rocks, protesting against water cuts in the area. Why then resort to burning the mayor’s house? What should we read into it?
