Virginia Hamilton has written over 41 books including “The House of Dies Drear” and “M.C. Higgins, the Great.” Her influential books have earned her every major award in youth literature.

Weekdays at 7:19 a.m. during Morning Edition in March     Raising Up Ohio's Women shares the stories of some of the most influential women from Ohio. This series honors the accomplishments that women have made in the arts, sciences, mathematics, education and activism to name a few. Each segment highlights a different woman's achievements toward bettering Ohio and our world.  "Raising Up Ohio's Women" is made possible, in part, by a generous gift provided by the Principle Family Action Fund, along with friends of Toledo Rotary and Toledo Symphony, in honor of Sue and Doug Neckers who were fully committed to public service.
