Cuy Sheffield, Visa's head of crypto, recently stated in an interview with New Delhi TV (NDTV) that the global payments giant will continue to support the global ecosystem following the launch of the Global Crypto Advisory service earlier this month.
"Crypto is a cool asset," according to Visa's head of product
Cuy Sheffield of Visa previously described cryptocurrency as a "cool" asset. He explained this to an NDTV reporter, stating that digital currencies are now attracting a greater number of financial institutions than ever before. Around 40% of cryptocurrency owners are willing to abandon traditional banks in favour of those that offer products based on digital currencies.
Sheffield also noted that the cryptosphere has grown significantly in recent years, expanding from simple investment and payment to discovering new works of music and art. He believes that when crypto-related mobile apps become fully integrated into consumers' daily lives, they have a strong chance of becoming "super apps."
Visa is closely monitoring the NFT sector
According to Sheffield, Visa is closely monitoring the NFT space at the moment, as it has developed into a rapidly growing trend with an increasing number of users.
He believes that small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) can benefit from non-fungible tokens in novel ways. NFTs enable businesses to create and sell digital goods at a low cost, and these goods can be instantly delivered to users' digital wallets.
Visa's head of crypto believes that in the future, the value and importance of a user's crypto address and email address will be comparable.
Additionally, Visa recently purchased $150,000 worth of NFTs. The company believes that non-fungible tokens will begin to play a significant role in retail, social media, commerce, and the entertainment industry.
The number of Visa employees who work with cryptocurrency has risen to hundreds
Visa's work in the cryptocurrency industry has accelerated significantly in recent months. The number of employees working on crypto in some capacity has risen to several hundred from a handful just a few years ago.
Additionally, the payments processing giant's partnership with cryptocurrency companies has recently increased to 60.
Visa wants to improve its understanding of cryptocurrency, as well as its customers' attitudes towards this nascent but rapidly maturing industry. Numerous Visa customers believe that cryptocurrency will play a role in the monetary system's future transformation.
