One couple. One restaurant. Four bedrooms. Eighteen covers. Up to ten courses.
For the very first episode of the Visit Arundel Podcast, we meet Matt and Jenni Price, the husband-and-wife team behind The Town House Restaurant with Rooms in the heart of Arundel.
Matt and Jenni share the story of the careers, adventures and slightly brave decisions that eventually brought them to Arundel to create a restaurant and rooms entirely in their own image.
We hear about Matt's journey through some remarkable kitchens, including a memorable trial at Eleven Madison Park in New York, then ranked the world's best restaurant. We discover how their two-year-old son's excitement at finding blackberries inspired a new dessert, and why ingredients, provenance and supporting local producers are so central to Matt's cooking.
Jenni takes us behind the scenes of their very personal approach to hospitality โ from the restaurant and its beautiful historic setting to the four bedrooms above โ and explains why every detail of the guest experience matters.
There is also a little exclusive: Matt and Jenni reveal that The Town House has just been awarded two AA Rosettes, the maximum available on a first inspection.
Along the way we talk about working together as husband and wife, the realities of opening a hospitality business, why they chose Arundel almost a decade before the opportunity arose, and the extraordinary community they have found since arriving.
And, of course, we finish with our Pallant of Arundel Picnic Question: if you could picnic anywhere in or around Arundel, where would you go and who would you take? Expect David Attenborough, Hiorne Tower, sandwiches and one rather lovely answer involving their two-year-old son.

Welcome to the Visit Arundel Podcast, your backstage pass to one of the most characterful towns in West Sussex.
Part conversation, part local noticeboard and part nosyโฆ
Hosted by Mark and Caroline Winship, each episode gets under the skin of the town through relaxed conversations with the fascinating people who help make Arundel tick. Expect independent business owners, chefs and hospitality heroes, artists and makers, community characters, event organisers, local experts and plenty of familiar faces, along with a few people and stories you might not have discovered yet.
Mark and Caroline have been visiting and enjoying Arundel for more than 20 years through family, festivals, weekends away and countless return visits. They now call the area home and are the people behind Sefton Place, their boutique aparthotel and retreat venue just outside Arundel. The podcast gives them the perfect excuse to indulge their curiosity, meet more of the people behind the town and share what they discover along the way.
We will talk food and drink, things to do in Arundel, independent shops, history, art and culture, local events, the South Downs, countryside and walking, sport, hospitality, community life and the hidden corners of Arundel and West Sussex that deserve a little more attention.
There will be recommendations, behind the scenes stories, local knowledge, plenty of personality and a regular look at what is on in and around Arundel. Whether you are planning your first visit, returning for another weekend, or you are lucky enough to live locally, there should always be something new to discover.
New episodes every fortnight.
