Vital Signs: Service. The early church knew the importance of involving everyone in the service of the church and God’s kingdom. There was no hierarchy of service, each person served according to their gifting and call. As a result the church thrived. When people are all doing what they are called to do, when no part of the church’s ministry is neglected, when there is neither hierarchy of calling, nor competition or comaprision. When everyone matters, and everyone is serving something bigger than themselves, when, in short, the church is looking a lot like the church was intended to look, people’s lives are changed for the better. God’s glorious kingdom grows and increases and becomes more.
