From pipelines to plastic, we hear a lot about environmental sustainability these days, and for good reason. Rising sea levels, increasing temperatures, disappearing species of animals, there is plenty of cause for concern. So where does Greater Victoria fit in when we talk about the environment? How is our local environment holding up and what larger impact is our region having on the global environment?

To find out, we sit down with Synergy founder and local environmental authority Jill Doucette to discuss how our community shapes up in terms of environmental sustainability and what we — governments, businesses, individuals — can do to help make things better. Plus we pay a visit to the Big Bat Bash, an annual event put on by the Habitat Acquisition Trust to help raise funds and awareness for the preservation our often misunderstood nocturnal friends.
