Exposing mainstream media coverage of bankruptcy and economic turmoil in Puerto Rico. During today's episode, we discuss the impact of U.S. capitalism, imperialism, and neo-colonialism on the Latin American nation. We uphold the slogan "Viva Puerto Rico Libre" (Long Live Free Puerto Rico) and speak with comrades fighting for the liberation of their people. Today's guests are Comrade Libre, Monisha Ríos, Jorky Badillo, and Sincere. Comrade Libre is an Afro-Boricua poet, organizer, and communist based out of Miami, Florida, whose organizing involves moving theory into practice. As a member of the Troika Kollective, they organize in their communities; and as internationalists, they build with movements in the Global South and across Turtle Island. Monisha is a Puerto Rican psychologist, social worker, and anti-imperialist veteran of the U.S. Army. Since 2013, she has been investigating the American Psychological Association's 104-year role in the weaponization and militarization of psychology in service to imperialism. Monisha works to expose the psychological warfare component of U.S.-led hybrid warfare, with a special focus on the narratives used to destabilize peoples' movements toward liberation from capitalist-imperialist oppression in Latin America and the Caribbean. Jorky is an organizer and community leader coming out of The Bronx. With roots in mobilizing against mass incarceration and the school-to-prison pipeline in New York City, Jorky moved to Puerto Rico and is now working with the agriculture of Boríken to further uplift food sovereignty and collective action on the island. Jorky is also the Minister of Education for the New Era Young Lords Party. Sincere is a 31-year-old Boricua who moved to Puerto Rico from Rhode Island two months ago.
