Who Is the God of the New Testament? — The Revelation of Jesus Christ”
The Disciple Life Podcast · Oneness Apostolic Theology
In this episode, we take a deep dive into one of the most essential truths of Scripture: the identity of the God of the New Testament. Far from presenting a second deity or a divine “person” distinct from the God of the Old Testament, the New Testament boldly reveals that the same Jehovah who spoke through the prophets has come to us in the flesh as Jesus Christ.
We walk through Matthew’s declaration that the child born of Mary would be called Immanuel—God with us. We explore Paul’s unmistakable revelation that God was manifest in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16) and that all the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily in Christ (Colossians 2:9–10). From Hebrews to Revelation, the Scriptures consistently point to one truth: the eternal God became our Redeemer through the man Christ Jesus.
This episode also confronts the common misunderstandings surrounding the Trinity. We examine Jesus’ words, “I and my Father are one,” the singular throne in Revelation, and the command in Matthew 28:19 to baptize in the name — a name the apostles understood and obeyed in Acts 2:38: the name of Jesus Christ.
We uncover the biblical identity of:
• The Father’s name — Jesus
• The Son’s name — Jesus
• The Holy Ghost’s name — Jesus
…revealed through Isaiah’s prophecy, Jesus’ own words to Philip, and the apostles’ teaching that the indwelling Spirit is the Spirit of Christ.
We also address one of the most common questions: “If Jesus is God, who was He praying to?” By exploring His dual nature — fully God and fully man — we see how the human nature prayed to the divine Spirit, not one divine person praying to another.
Finally, we bring it all together with the apostolic conclusion:
There is no salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
This episode will help you:
• Understand why Jesus is the God of both Testaments
• See how the Bible reveals one God in three roles, not three persons
• Grasp why the Early Church baptized exclusively in Jesus’ name
• Appreciate the beauty of God becoming our kinsman Redeemer
• Strengthen your Oneness foundation and deepen your worship
What a privilege to know who Jesus is — the Almighty, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, and the One true God revealed in flesh.
