Breaking overnight: President Putin announces Russia’s first troop mobilization since World War II. In a speech to his nation, Russia's president announced a partial mobilization of up to 300,000 military reservists and warned Western countries to stay out of the conflict. Before Putin's speech, world leaders meeting at the United Nations denounced Russia's war in Ukraine. President Biden speaks to the U.N. General Assembly later this morning. Turning to the economy, the Fed is expected to raise interest rates again today in a bid to slow inflation. Hurricane Fiona is now a Category 4 storm. It's heading towards Bermuda, after slamming the Turks and Caicos with winds up to 125 miles an hour. The storm also forced more than 12,000 people from their homes in the Dominican Republic, due to flooding. And in Puerto Rico, more than a million people are still without power, after Monday's landfall. The judge that Donald Trump requested to review documents seized from him by the FBI is showing skepticism about the former president's claims. The midterm elections are less than seven weeks away, and the latest CBS News battleground tracker poll focuses on two very close races in Georgia. Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock leads his Republican challenger, Herschel Walker, 51% to 49% in our poll.
