Voices from the Field - Episode 06 - Water: Our First Relative, Our First Responsibility with Dr. Priscilla Settee

This episode is based on a keynote presentation delivered by Dr. Priscilla Settee at the fourth annual “Create H2O” First Nations Water Research Conference, organized by the University of Manitoba’s Centre for Human Rights Research (June 1-2, 2017). Grounded in a human rights perspective, Dr. Settee referred to a number of organizations and reports focused on water crises, including unresolved drinking water advisories and the resulting social and health impacts experienced by First Nations communities across Canada.

Cet épisode s’inspire d’un discours liminaire prononcé par Priscilla Settee lors du quatrième Congrès annuel de recherche sur l’eau des Premières Nations (First Nations Water Research Conference), Create H2O, organisé par le Centre for Rights Research de l’Université du Manitoba (1er et 2 juin 2017). Dans son discours bien ancré dans une perspective des droits de la personne, Mme Settee a fait référence à un certain nombre d’organismes et de rapports axés sur les crises de l’eau, y compris les perpétuels avis sur la qualité de l’eau potable et leurs répercussions sur la société et la santé des Premières Nations dans tout le Canada.
