Meika creates handbags using leather, natural and synthetic fabrics, or a combination of the aforementioned along with various types of hardware and notions. Her works are an expression of her introverted-extroverted, nomadic self and are influenced by her love of nature, culture, travel, color, geometric forms, architecture, and fashion. Meika's minimalist creations are a reflection and manifestation of said geometric forms and their juxtaposition with transformation and movement, whereas bolder pieces are often inspired by elements of various cultures, or are a direct nod to present-day or historical occurrences within a particular culture. Infused in each is a past or present fashion trend and or component of street style from any given individual, runway, city, or suburb. Some bags are presented as part of a larger context using mixed media on canvas. As Meika continues to grow and evolve in this unique and monumental “fragment” of history that is “today”, she finds herself surrendering to walking the infinite path of artistic endeavor in search of living each perfectly imperfect moment in time, where context meets creation.
