Voodoo is a creolized religion that formed when certain African ethnic groups were enslaved and brought to Haiti. From there, the slaves were then turned into Catholics and their religion from their homeland became forbidden. These enslaved people then combined their old religion with Catholicism and our modern-day voodoo was born.
