We’re talking to Team 18’s Mark Winterbottom on this week’s episode of the V8 Sleuth Podcast polished by Bowden’s Own. ‘Frosty’ is set to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his first Bathurst 1000 come this year’s race in October, so we sat down to chat about his history with Mount Panorama.
In the first part of a three-part chat, he talks about watching the race as a kid, long before the karting and Formula Ford successes that earnt him his first V8 Supercar drive with Stone Brothers Racing. He talks about his debut with SBR in the 2003 race – and how he feels they had a shot to win it – and his two starts with Larkham Motor Sport in 2004 and 2005, plus his early near-misses with Ford Performance Racing in 2007.
