Vulnerability: Debunking the Myths, How It's Connected to Courage, and How It Differs From Disclosure

Listen Later

In this week’s episode Jamie and Guy discuss vulnerability in human behavior and emotions and how it differs from disclosure. Jamie describes how vulnerability involves being uncertain, at risk and emotionally exposed.  They discuss common misconceptions or myths about vulnerability (Myth #1: Vulnerability is weakness) and why they are not true.  They reference the work done by Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW on vulnerability and share her insight on the topic.  In particular, these discuss how Brené Brown has taught, "You do not measure vulnerability by the amount of disclosure - you measure vulnerability by the amount of courage it took to show up and be seen when you can not control the outcome....Vulnerability is not weakness; it’s our greatest measure of courage."
