Continuing in the instruction to Timothy about the qualification of elders, we need to peek into the reality of what it means to be "able to teach". I believe culture and tradition has removed this requirement and that what is happening in most congregations is nothing more than just rhetorical idolatry. The elder must know himself as a servant of God and God's church and thus expound on what God has already given in the manner required of him.
