KVI's John Carlson interviews general counsel for the Building Industry Association of Washington, Jackson Maynard, who tells KVI that the Washington State Building Codes Council just voted to delay for 120 days a ban on natural gas in new construction. The building codes council had originally imposed the end of natural gas service after being urged by Gov. Jay Inslee and various climate activists--some of whom are also elected officials. The BIAW has been among opponents of a uni-lateral natural gas ban due to the increased costs of construction for alternative sources of heat, like heat pumps.
