War is nothing new to humanity. The idea of being involved in war seems weird now because we are blessed to live in, quite literally, the most peaceful time, ever, in human existence. But with the ever-growing political tensions and arms race for global dominance, it would be no huge surprise if the world goes to war. None of us here, I hope, has been unfortunate enough to live through a one and face the consequences of it, but, economically, is it really all that bad as we think? What if I told you that a pretty big section of people considers wars, in general, to be beneficial for the economy? We all know about the great boom in the United States post World War 2 followed by gains in terms of sheer GDP figures- not only did they get out of the Great Depression, but also the economy grew in actuality. A very controversial argument in fact, and we will get to the root of it. Every possible hypothesis of a war economy and recovery, analyzed in one single episode, just as we do it best.
