Lucy Shaw is a runner, but she hasn't always ran. Lucy set out to get in shape and lose weight so she could move more and walk her precious pup. She felt inspired to run when her husband casually noted she had gone a 5K distance on her treadmill. She was thrilled, excited and felt pulled to see what else she could do. Lucy began sharing her running ventures on her YouTube channel. That is how I found her channel. I loved learning more about her story and her passion for running in this podcast episode.

In this episode, I interview Joy Southwell also known as Barbells and Burpees . Joy exudes strength, kindness and beauty both internally and externally. I first met Joy at a DEKA event. After the event, I remember being amazed that she finished so fast… she beat most of the guys. It was awesome. She inspired and inspires me to dig in and give a little more, to focus on what I want to accomplish and I am grateful to have met her. Joy is an athlete, educator, wife and mom. Joy embarked on her own fitness, health and weight loss journey, she has said “approaching 40 I had high blood pressure & was tired all of the time. I started getting into functional fitness and running events. When the sun set on running, I was fortunate enough to find @deka.fit Deka Strong. At (almost) 47 I feel and perform at the best I ever have.”

In this episode, I interview Carla Fitzgerald also known as Half of Carla. Carla lost 180 lbs by first dealing with her trauma, then her binge eating disorder and by showing up for herself with kindness and compassion.
Carla struggled with her weight her whole life. By doing a lot of deep work, Carla came face to face with her truth. She is not and was not her weight. When she came to that realization, everything changed.

Yancy Culp has extremely contagious enthusiasm for fitness and life. He desperately wants to share his passion for for fitness and health with people of all fitness levels. He first realized the extent of desire to work in the fitness industry while serving in the United States Navy. After, Yancy and his wife Amy Culp, RD, CSSD, LD, partnered in the ownership of sCULPture Nutrition & Fitness. In 2011, Yancy found a new passion, and cultivated a love for Obstacle Course Racing. In 2015, he launched YancyCamp.com where he provides online coaching with my OCR Program. Yancy is a Spartan SGX Coach, an ACE Certified Personal Trainer for 18 years, the HumanN/BeetElite Active Lifestyle Coach, a Power Systems Master Coach, an US Army BOSS Strong Alpha Warrior Coach, and in 2019 co-created DEKAFIT. This year he turned 50 and determined to double down on prioritizing health and fitness and focus on being "Always ready to say yes."
