Wake up & Smell the Roses
Getting up early sucks, at least for a while until your body gets adjusted… and then time changes, in what 2 weeks?! Yay! INSERT EYE ROLL. Listen, I got so sick of my own shit that I had to make changes, big changes. I was wearing a whole lot of hats and only doing a half way job at anything. I was tired, stressed, I was staying sick, my body ached constantly, and that’s how I started each and every day, until one day, I woke up and smelled the roses. It was time to either change my habits or accept the fact that I was just going to be sick and tired of being sick and tired until I died. Who wants that for life? Me personally, I’d rather do the hard shit now and reap the benefits later.
I didn’t need more hours in the day, as people so often suggest. I needed to take advantage of the hours that I have. We are all given the same 24 hours, it’s just a matter of how we choose to spend them. Getting up early gave me those hours in quiet to accomplish things I hadn’t accomplished before. In the quiet, I wasn’t as anxious, I found I could actually think. Being alone with my thoughts was honestly a scary concept for me. Life was always so busy, so the idea of downtime and quiet time made me anxious, until I tired it. Sometimes, we need a little tap to the brakes of life. I could get things done that I was trying to accomplish once the kids were up or at night which took time away from being a wife and a mom. Checking it off my list while everyone was resting peacefully made me a much better human in their waking hours. I discovered that I quit yelling at my kids in the morning, rushing around, and feeling like my heart was going to pop out of my chest or my head was going to explode before I even got to work in the morning. I was ruining my own days, even weeks before they had started because of anxiousness, I was creating!
Now by 7am, I have accomplished more than some people do in a whole day! I’m productive, I’m energized, and I have shit done and I’m ready to get more shit done. I don’t leave the house stressed or exhausted! My mornings are pleasant and enjoyable with my kids!
Let’s get you there! Learn the benefits of waking up early and the baby-steps process to winning your morning. Be sure to listen to tomorrow’s episode for helpful tips to help you wake up early and seize the day!
