Jonah is running from God’s vision for his life. He is not living his life in obedience to God and is on the run. What we see in this passage is Jonah becomes a wrecking ball in other peoples lives. When we fall asleep at the wheel, we don’t know that we are living lives in complete disobedience. Therefore, God sends a storm. But God doesn’t send a storm because of the wicked sailors, but because of the disobedient prophet. And Jonah relies on the pure grace of God that wakes him up to his life.
