Kewanee Mayor Gary Moore was our guest on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Tuesday morning. The Mayor was on hand to follow up on Monday's Kewanee City Council Meeting where the City Council moved forward a tax abatement necessary for maintaining lower property taxes across the City of Kewanee. The Mayor also addressed questions regarding Air B n B regulations in the City. An operator of an Air B n B in Kewanee spoke to the Council on Monday to state they were unaware that they needed to pay the Hotel-Motel Tax in order to operate an Air B n B in the City. Indeed, a 5% tax is required of Air B n B operators under the Kewanee ordinance. Finally, the Mayor discussed the latest Kewanee Police Department crime numbers which were down from month to month significantly from October to November.
