The challenge of obeying God's commands is that they tend to be contrary to our way of thinking or what we desire. God said, "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways" (Isa 55:8). This is no where more evident than in the instructions for the marriage relationship. Everyone must learn submission. If we trust Him, we can obey Him. Listen carefully to these principles. 

Don't believe for a minute that men and women are the same (much less interchangeable). Everything about them is different. We both have much to learn, especially the husbands.  God reveals the essential secrets to those who want to follow God's best for life. Listen for an introduction to marriage. 

When ignored or deprived of what we think we deserve it is easy to become embittered towards someone, even in a marriage. This is often a response to a hurt feeling, emotional abuse or betrayal, that must be dealt with quickly. Bitterness will be destructive to you. God's instructions for the married couple is precisely to meet the deepest needs in each of their souls. Mankind has not changed in time, rather it craves a spouse committed to meeting each of their different needs. Truly only Christ can fully meet these needs, but we are to learn God's way and imitate His love for a fulfilling marriage. 

The Bible is very realistic about how to build a life-long marriage. These instructions cannot be ignored and expect to find happiness and harmony in marriage. Pay attention. This guidance really works. 

Divorce has never been a part of God's plan for a couple. He always has a solution to conflicts, if we are willing to listen, especially early enough in the conflict. This is the first of a series of commands directed to married couples. Be sure to listen to all of this series.

Leadership, especially in the church, is never easy. From the beginning, God's plan is for some of the leaders to receive financial support from their congregations or synagogues. Financial remuneration is always a symbol of how much the congregation appreciate the commitment and benefit the pastor/elder brings to the lives of Christ's followers. 

God always gives us enough to share with others who have less. Nothing pleases the Lord more than our willingness to obey and to sacrifice, because this is His nature. His children follow His caring example. 

If we are wise, we learn to save our resources all our lives for emergencies and retirement, so you can live a few years relaxing. If heaven and the millennium are real, and they are, then God is going to recompense and reward us forever.  Here is God's plan for our eternal savings.

The greatest test of love is to whom will you be generous without expecting anything in return. How anyone spends his discretionary income reveals whom he loves and where his heart is. Listen for how God's providence works for those who learn to be generous.
