Walking Through

Listen Later

Scripture:

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” — Psalm 23:4

There are seasons in life that feel like they will never end.

Moments where the weight is heavy, the darkness feels permanent, and the path forward is unclear. Valleys that linger longer than expected, leaving us wondering if we will ever make it out.

In this episode of Digging Another Well, we reflect on one of the most well-known verses in Scripture and a powerful truth we often overlook:

We are not meant to stay in the valley.

We are meant to walk through it.

David does not deny the reality of the valley. He names it for what it is—dark, shadowed, and capable of producing fear even in a faithful heart. But then he makes a declaration that changes everything:

“I will fear no evil.”

Not because the valley is easy.

Not because the darkness is not real.

But because of who is present in it.

“For thou art with me.”

God’s presence does not always remove the valley—but it changes how we walk through it. The promise is not always immediate escape, but faithful companionship.

And that word through matters.

The valley is not your destination.

It is a passage.

A season with an entrance—and an exit.

The darkness may be real, but it is not permanent.

If you are walking through a difficult season today, this devotional is a reminder:

you are not stuck. You are moving.

God knows the way.

He walks beside you.

And He is leading you through.
