The 50 year long war on drugs started by Richard Nixon and the US government in the 70's and was seen as a loss. What we can see now is that government spending was wasted on a dramatic increase in federal drug control officers, and prisons. We now know that the government was using this campaign to target minorities, and we have seen the increase in imprisoned Black and brown people in our control due to the selling and use of illegal drugs in the country. Today we are also seeing increased drug use in the country in whole, and we are left wondering what can be done to fix this situation.
